So as I peruse the papers, the wire services, social media, listen to the radio, and, even once in a while, turn on the TV, I am flabbergasted at the public sentiment created out of purely insane reactions. Have we become so enmeshed in reality TV and always being wired to the world that our reactions are always histrionic? Always without fact and quick to blame? I haven’t written in a while which is normal for me after finishing a big book project, but I had to think out-loud to help with my own sanity. A catharsis as it were. I do mean to use the word always, by the way. There is no more downtime for reason and facts to be placed into the public scrutiny
before we’ve politicized, proselytized, polarized, and pontificate what we believe to be true. People, please, grab hold of your underwear and check the reality of your life. There are troubled humans and troubled policies, but the sky is not falling. The more hype we give to the bad guys, and the more we arm ourselves and live in a world of fear and panic then that will be our world. I choose to live otherwise. Embracing certainly seems to make more sense than alienating to the point of hate, and then wonder why individuals and groups want to arm themselves and carry their torches burning into your buildings. It goes both way folks. We can’t look to a government, we can’t look to businesses, we can’t blame the rich or the poor. The devil is us and it is time we understand the true metaphor. Heaven can be now in this beautiful world, or hell can be reached, but we need to decide on which side of the dance ticket we’d like to be listed.
Take a look deep inside yourself and then take a deep breath. We as a collective control the kind of world we wish to live in.
Public sentiment and keeping your sanity
