Going to research a new novel in Washington D.C. brings me to a great place to write. The book is inspired by a couple who lived through WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, their adventures, their loves, and their friends. A little different twist from the political scene we normally cover, but tangentially attached nonetheless. The thought about a group of people who helped secure what we have now is certainly not a new story, but in my mind, we need to remind ourselves of how they lived. It was a about gaining a foothold and helping each other – not to the extreme of today’s “me” lifestyles. I will visit the war memorials and look deep into the souls of the characters who were real and hopefully translate that into something of value that will evoke thoughts of togetherness instead of separateness.
