The recent election continues to be discussed at water coolers, in major news, and in the backrooms of the people already planning the next round. The choice before us is either to WANT a candidate (local, state, or federal) based on popularity in what we see and hear in the media, or a candidate that is important to the issues we need as a collective. The sad statement may be all about the money – again. The super PAC phenom will move to the lowest levels (pun intended) of local government to begin a process of building candidates much like a farm system in professional sports. The issues become important only to those with the most money. As you learn and teach others, look beyond the commercial on television. Look beyond the full page spread suddenly appearing for school board candidates. Take a peek behind the curtain then make your decisions. http://www.salisburypost.com/Opinion/111212-edit-dpost
