To set new goals while flying a new flag

May 17, 2020

This Sunday morning, as the day tries to decide cloudy or rainy, I’ve decided to set new goals. May is and will be a transition month in our fight against the virus. The economy will open, governments will watch for factors of change – except ours in America with the dolt in office who doesn’t give a shit about you or me – and the weather will warm around us creating a soothing comfort of outdoor excursions. In the meantime, I’m literally rebuilding a wine cellar including accompanying lists and ordering patterns, but at the same time, making sure the final edits to “The Penny” get done. I figure I’ve got two weeks. One day job and one night job. In the middle, I can still take care of the house and assist with Christine’s stressors. Sound like a plan? I agree. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get that done on a national scale? Wouldn’t it be nice to have leadership and a community of one helping to work through this pandemic? With a very measured decision, we have decided to fly the State of Michigan flag in response to the strong and measured direction Governor Whitmer has given. While not agreeing with every nuance, she has taken the state from the top of the list, and dropped it significantly with regards to cases and deaths. She has stood up to the white supremacists, the gun toting NRA, the antivaxxers, the white Christian right, and the other morons who only want to splash onto the national attention span while holding nooses, Nazi flags, Confederate flags, and resembling a force from a Mad Max movie. Unfortunately, the once proud flag of the United States has been usurped by an unwieldly group of pathetic lost souls who choose as their leader a person who’s rabid egocentric psychosis has expanded into one constant delusion of victimhood. Christine and I have both given our lives to public service and have fathers and family who have fought to secure our freedom since the Civil War. We have children who continue that fight and we are proud of their continued vigilance of equality. Yet, none fly Old Glory as long as our new battle rages with our own White House. Sad. Very sad. We have all set new goals. VOTE!!!
