I woke up. Christine was on a conference call in the dining room. I made coffee, went back upstairs to the chaise, and drank my coffee gazing out toward the horizon of the lake. I was hungry. I went downstairs and made oatmeal. She was on another call. I went into the Media Room and watched “The Enemy Below” while eating my oatmeal. I came out of the room, and she was on another call. I had juice and took my vitamins. I went to Lowes, Home Depot, and Meijers. I came home, and she was leaving for the office. I caulked bathrooms, plastered cracks in the hallway, and made lunch. I tried to watch the news, but couldn’t and decided to change the world outside. I pruned rose bushes, hydrangeas, sedums, and began cleaning the garage. When the outdoor furniture was placed on all the decks and the front floating patio, I cleaned and filled bird feeders. Once all was done, I went into the kitchen and prepped for a meatloaf, sweet potatoes, and fresh spinach. I made martinis and enjoyed a hefty one. I had a virtual cocktail hour with the kids, and Christine came home. She had a virtual cocktail hour with friends and family. I finished making dinner, and we ate in the dining room. We talked about the state of the nation and had wine. After dinner, Christine did dishes, and I dried. We drank the rest of the wine and retreated into the Media Room. We’ve been watching “Knives Out,” and she decided to make chocolate chip cookies. I came into the Reading Room to write, That’s where I am, now, writing. I think I shall enjoy the cookies. That was my day, today, Wednesday, April 1st, 2020.
