The Emotions of Writing

January 30, 2016

LakeSuperiorJuneEvening2014 Today I paint and write at the same time which tantalize the emotions of writing. Whether it’s brush strokes or the stroke of a pen, the emotion comes through in many ways. Sometimes anger catapults onto the paper in broad, strong swaths or in harsh soliloquies expelling demons. Other times a bright smile or happiness breaks on the horizon and the paint picks up color and words exult a rebirth of warmth. Then as the peace settles a calmness appears and an anointment of ease takes hold of the emotional throttle. These past two weeks have been an emotional mountain range with deep avalanches into the depths of caverns not see or felt in quite some time. Climbing out on carabiners of adverbs and adjectives has been difficult, but painting brings the additional release prior to the summit, and the last few days have brought that peace. They have brought a release knowing you can only be happy if being authentic. So today I am authentic in my life and enjoying the experiences I choose which, for me, is a gentle breeze of self-forgiveness and a few clouds of humanity on which I may float and view the beauty and glory of the world and those around me.
