Government shutdown 2013: It’s time to write here again for the basic principle of telling you the truth you don’t want to hear. The government, or should I say the country, is at a standstill because we’ve put it there. Our own apathy and shallow thoughts around who we send to political office, and why, is not all the fault of who’s in office. We put them there! Our government shutdown2013 is our fault. Yes. We. Us. And what’s worse, we put them there for our own selfish reasons. The small handful of Representatives and Senators who truly are holding-up the government are doing exactly what the people with the money told them to do. Until we change the bribery system of elections and the use of money to influence, we can only expect the same results down the road. Sorry. I have no sympathy. Some of us write about this; lecture about this; advise about this – nothing changes. Citizens United and how we set up voting districts have to be addressed. Recent posts in Michigan have finally began looking into how the state supreme court has been influenced by political capital:
In Iowa, the caucus turmoil is beginning already. Surprise, surprise that a state senator took money in a promise to campaign for a national election:

Sadly, before we can fix our political woes, we must first take a look at the hatred and separation we have fostered. We sent the people to Washington that we wanted to send because of how we feel. That needs to change first.
